Final Summary

It is finally hitting me. This is the last week of ds106. What a ride it has been.  I had no idea I was going to make it to the end but here I am.  It was extremely difficult but at the same time it was really fun. Its a bitter sweet moment but I am ready for what lies in front of me.  I would like to give a special thanks to Professor Bond.  He gave me the tools to succeed and helped me along the way the entire time.  You’ll be lucky to have a teacher that cares about his students as much as he does.  As I close out this final blog post, I would like to share a quote with you that comes from one of the greatest characters of all time “The journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path… One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass… And then you see it…. White shores… and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.”  Thank you and good night.

Advice for DS106

To all of the upcoming students that want to take part in this super ds106 class, I have some advice for you. First, enjoy yourself and the assignments.  These assignments that you are tasked with are based off of your own ideas. You should always talk about stuff you love. And second, make sure you keep up to date with your assignments.  You can really lose track of where you are at quickly if you don’t do your work. And thats all so have fun!

DS106 Week 13 progress report

Week 13 is the start of the final projects.  I am in a group with Eric Dorman and for our final crisis for the superheroes we made (Tech and Mellow Man), they are going to try to stop a time traveling villain which brings them back to the medieval times.  It’ll incorporate the heroes and villains of the time (king Arthur, Robin Hood, etc.)  To incorporate what we learned in class, we will create our heroes using the software hero machine 3 and make a video using different sounds a visual techniques. Eric is currently working on making the heroes while I am in charge of creating the script and hopefully it will turn out as planned!

DS106 week 12 summary

This week was all about remixes and mash ups. I preferred the mash ups because it was really fun to put things together that weren’t together in the first place (plus it was a little easier than remixes).  It was kind of like an original idea using work that was there for you.  I really liked doing the assignment live vs. studio record because I listen to the live version of the song I did all the time so it was easy to mash them together and I had a lot of fun doing it.  All of the assignments and remixes should be in blog posts on my page and here are the TDCs

and my comments are here

Superhuman in Everyday Life (remix)

So, as you know, I would fly to class so I am never late but if I were to have a sidekick, who would it be and what would he do? Well, I have come to the conclusions that my sidekick would be Brain Man.  He would be able to help me on my exams that I won’t be late for anymore so now I look like the perfect student. (remix assignment for 2 more stars)

Music Switching, Live Vs Studio

The song is All Night Thing and it is studio recorded by Temple of the dog and mashed with the live version just sang by the lead singer Chris Cornell (RIP).  I used the Audacity program to put the two songs together at the right times.  Personally, I like the live version better. (assignment for 3 1/2 stars)

The You Doodle Walk through

For this assignment, I had trouble finding the right photo editor so I asked my friend and he told me about this app called YouDoodle. Its a real simple app where you can put pictures together and cut out what you need to keep in the photo you are trying to make.  The hardest part for me personally is trimming out the extra parts in a picture I am trying to use. In the YouDoodle app, they have a cut and trim option where you just circle around the spot you don’t want to keep and cut that out. And you don’t have to worry about cutting out the picture behind it because you can set that as the background. and it won’t be cut out. When youre done, save it to your photo gallery and then email it yourself or import it on your computer.  Once I got the idea I wanted and the right app, It took me about 10 minutes to finish it.  So if you are looking for an easy way to mash some photos together, I would recommend youdoodle.
